The material with local wisdom theme in Kurikulum 2013 is one way to introduce and preserve local wisdom in the regions. In language learning, students’ activities are to find key ideas of text and writing information about local wisdom in students’ region. However, many students do not know local wisdom in their region especially in some regions of Indonesia. Students don’t have imagination of local wisdom so they have difficulty writing information. This is because the introduction of local wisdom only relies on the material contained in the book. Consequently, this research aims to design picture story book media with local wisdom theme to train writing skill for elementary school students.  In addition, this media is an attempt  to introduce local wisdom to students. This research applied literature review with articles, journal, and book as the data sources. The results of the literature reviewe are expected to be followed up as learning media that can be implemented in schools to train students’ writing skill and intorduce local wisdom.
