The purpose of the study was to determine the role of the implementation of family aware about nutrition to the nutritional status of children under five. The cross sectional study was used to determine the relationship between the implementation of family awareness about nutrition and nutritional status of children under five. A total of 102 children aged 12-59 months who lived in the work area of Health Center of Andalas were involved in this study. Data was collected using interview questionnaires and measurement of nutritional status. The results showed that most mothers had the level of education and attitudes of mothers were in the good category (74.5%; 96.1%), and more than half samples had the implementation of a family awareness about good nutrition (58.8%). Families that apply nutrition awareness are statistically related to the incidence of malnutrition in children under five after being controlled by infectious diseases, health services, knowledge and attitudes of mothers. Thus, health institutions are expected to form a group of families who are aware of nutrition and continuously provide education to the community.
