NYIMUR RITUAL AS A HEALING METHOD AND REFUSING BAD LUCK IN TRADITIONAL KNOWLEDGE SYSTEM OF KASEPUHAN CIPTAGELAR INDIGENOUS COMMUNITY
Abstract
Culture is seen as something which is complex because it contains knowledge, beliefs, art, morals, laws, customs, and other abilities that a person has as a member of a society. Every native community certainly has traditions and beliefs that are in accordance with the background of their habitation. This research is motivated by the presence of nyimur tradition in Kasepuhan Ciptagelar indigenous community life in South Sukabumi, which is held every year and is believed to be a healing ceremony and refusing bad luck so that a child future life will be physically and mentally healthy.The purpose of this research is to find out the whole procession of traditional ceremonies as well as the functions and benefits of the ceremony. The method in this study employed analytical descriptive method by using the interview techniques that aim to get as much data as possible about the related research and observations carried out to directly examine the ceremony of the nyimur tradition. The results of this study are expected to be able to fully describe the tradition of Nyimur ceremony and its functions which have been believed to be a healing and refusing method in traditional knowledge systems in Kasepuhan Ciptagelar Community since hundreds of years ago.
