PRESERVATION OF VALUES OF LOCAL CULTURAL WISDOM THROUGH ANCIENT SUNDANESE MANUSCRIPT TRANSLITERATION IN PURWAKARTA, WEST JAVA, INDONESIA (Philology And Ethnopedagogic Study)

 Abstract


This study is focused of old Sundanese manuscript of Prabu Kean Santang Wawacan (WPK). The research questions to answer on the basis of those three problems areas include: (1) how does translation of old Sundanese manuscript of WPK? (2) what are the formal and narrative structure in old Sundanese manuscript of WPK? and (3) what are the values of local culture wisdom in old Sundanese manuscript of WPK? The method employed in this study is the study of philology to transliterate ancient Sundanese script from Arabic-Pegon to Latin script, as one technology transfer effort from traditional work pattern to modern technology. Therefore, the descriptive and transliteration techniques are applied. Adapun metode yang digunakan di dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif dengan teknik studi pustaka, studi lapangan, dan teknik transliterasi naskah. The finding base on the application of philological approach are: (1)WPK writer is not always   consistent  in writing letters, lack of understanding about the rules of making pupuh; and (2) the use of functuition in the text studied is not homogeneous, especially the functuation for pupuh alteration. While The finding base on of the application of local- culture wisdom approach is the story narrated in WPK can be semiotically  meant as a symbol of human life behind  a series of events happening to the figures. WPK contain of a meaning regarding the course of human life. Life is struggle and always deals with obstacles to attain the glory. Only strong indivuduals are able to deals with obstacles in order to achive a glorious dignity. This statement in one conceps of values of local culture wisdom in Prabu Kean Santang Wawacan story.
